Ovom Care's Portuguese subsidiary, Ovomcareportugal, Unipessoal, Lda., has been placed into court-supervised insolvency proceedings in Portugal. We recognise this is an extremely difficult situation for patients, and our sympathies are with everyone affected.
The court appointed an Insolvency Administrator to manage the company as part of this process. The decision to cease the clinic's operations was made by the Administrator following that appointment.
The Insolvency Administrator has approved a process, together with Portugal's regulator, the CNPMA, for stored eggs, sperm and embryos to be transferred to AVA Clinic in Lisbon. This transfer was safely carried out by the clinical team of Ovom Care and completed under the Insolvency Administrator's oversight and with the CNPMA's authorisation. The patients' clinical data is currently being securely transferred also.
Ovom Care's German parent company is separately subject to its own insolvency proceedings under German law. Restructuring measures are initiated and a M&A-process is organized.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
